I try not to buy things based solely on brand, but this weekend I was shopping at saw a bag that was, quite frankly, yucky-looking. Then saw it was a LAMB bag and, thought, "Well, I guess it could be cool." Then I stopped and immediately head-butted a wall to knock some sense into my noggin.
Well, I should have anyway ;) Whenever a similar circumstance occurs, I have to reevaluate my criteria for awesomeness and make sure I am grounded. It might not seem like a big deal to you, but when you should be focusing on fit and finish to hone your style, how often are you focusing on brands and labels instead? I love a great designer deal as much as the next gal, but I don't like being a label-drone.
I searched the web to see if I was overreacting or if people really are loco for logos... The results are not encouraging ;)
What would happen if "Pimp My Ride" hired Marc Jacobs:
"I don't know why I failed the exam?! I took SO many notes!":
Sometimes you just want to match your favorite purse:
That is quite the accent wall:
This might be the chicest lunch bag ever...or it gives hobo bag a new meaning:
Some people go so far as to brand themselves with a brand:
As it turns out, we are all "suckers" for labels (hehe):
I obviously had some fun today ;) So dish, peeps, do you have certain brands that you are loyal to? Do you only buy designer or are you not particular? Do you have the double-C Chanel logo tattooed on your forehead?
Hahah...I would not get a Chanel tattoo for sure but occasionally I love some chanel cuties (bags are amazing)...But as you I try not to pay much attention to the labels...Just go for stuff I like:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday, darling
The paper Chanel bag is so cool, haha!
ReplyDeleteI am a brand loyalist but not so far that I am branding things they don't make! And that includes me!

Tattooing it on your body for real is taking it a bit too far for me. I mean I would consider myself loyal to certain brands but that's nutzzz! xo
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh - that car made me laugh out loud. And that paper "Chanel" bag is pretty funny too!
ReplyDeleteokay this stuff is hid. i like a brand or two, but not to this kind of extreme...although i hear you on the brainwashing. sometimes i'll see something and immediately go 'yuck' then see a label on it and think twice. thankfully i snap out of it (or bang head on wall as you so eloquently stated :)) go with my gut reaction. it's always the right one! i'm on a bit of a death to labels kick right now. i blame it all on the bus.
ReplyDeletehere's to brighter days ahead!
xo,

ehh...
ReplyDeleteas i get older i get less interested in logos. still love louis (and carry it) and would love a chanel bag, but i don't crave those brands like i used to. i'd take something no-name and well-made over that, any day! :)
xx
what a fun post :) love the homemade chanel bag!
