Sole-Searching: Blue Suede Shoes

Between the vibrant-color-hold-over from summer and the color-blocking trend that has been prominently featured in magazine fall trend previews (though are they really previews at this point? Isn't it already fall?), cobalt blue currently has a big place in color real estate of the fashion world. I was just browsing through the shoe section of the Accessories archive on style.com (don't go there unless you want to inexplicably lose 3 hrs of your day!) for fall wardrobe inspiration and couldn't help but be drawn to the bold color on so many styles of shoes. Here are a few of my favorites:
Pierre Hardy. I feel like I see this heel everywhere and yet I can't help but notice something new about it every time I see it! It's like the shoe of a chic superhero!

Christian Louboutin. The man of the red sole can do no wrong. I love that it is nonchalantly super-stylish and my ankles thank him for the generous cut-out...well, they would if I could buy these ;)

Pollini. The emphasized stitches, over-sized tassel (love!) and brick-of-a-heel make this an unforgettable shoe even if the color was boring instead of this bright hue. I spotted this in last month's Harper's Bazaar and stared for a while, which sparked the search.

Don't want to take out a second mortgage to satisfy your cobalt craving? No worries-- I found this adorable cut-out shootie at Payless! That's right, $59 for this Lela Rose for Payless pair of adorableness!

Will you be wearing cobalt kicks this fall? Or will you be wearing bright blue in your clothing or saving it for smaller accessories instead?

Studly.

Despite the fact that I am deathly afraid of wear and tear on studded shoes, I am a big fan of them (as seen here). There are so many great heels out there that are encrusted with spiky or blingy studs that look amazing, but aren't very practical for me to wear out and about (especially since the move) so I have been on the hunt for day-appropriate looks with studs. It didn't take long to find some (thank you Sam Edelman for existing!) and the results are certainly tempting!

I love the quasi-louche luxe of this Sam Edelman "Adena" loafer:
This cento x cento Studded Oxford is adorable and looks super comfy:

Sam Edelman "Beatrix" flat. All I can say is Chanel-meets-Balmain in this shoe:
Are you proud of me for finding (sort-of) more practical shoes than yesterday?! hehe. Are you going to be wearing studs for fall, or are you over that pokey trend?
Happy Friday!

Item of the Week (And Back to Reality)

Hey kids, I am back from vacation and can't wait to download pictures, but I think I will be laying around on the couch when I am not at work (being tossed-off a banana boat/torpedo repeatedly into a churning lake really took it out of me) so downloading will have to wait. While recovering from my vacation, I got the notion in my head that I need practical shoes, so I searched online (laziness prevented going into a "real" store), but instead of comfy flats for work, I am completely fixated on these Charlotte Olympia "Polly" Piped Leopard Print Calf Hair Platform Pumps:
Yeah, I know. Awesome. My inner retro-sex-kitten-business-lady-fashionista-who-color-blocks is completely in need of them, but my wallet (they are $905) and my height (5'10" girl with a 5" heel would makes her 6'3"-aka-nosebleed city) object strongly.

Can you please talk me out of them? What have you been eyeing lately?

New Obsession: Rebecca Minkoff Shoes!

While you might be thinking "obsession" is a strong word--it is. And can you blame me, her new collection is great. Minkoff always performs well in the handbag arena, so it's nice to see that her talents extend beyond the Morning After Bag. All her shoes look very unique and yet very modern and wearable. (Le swoon!) I am particularly fixated on this pair....

The Trott cut out wedge.... It's like you wore your favorite plain black and wooden wedge to the beach and then a stingray leapt out of the water and attached itself to your shoe... AKA- awesomeness that defies the laws of nature!
If you aren't too hott for these Trotts, (sorry, I couldn't help myself), there are other shoes in the collection that deftly combine her basic color palette with that same strangely textured, metallic leather:

The Caroline mini-wedge... statement-y, yet simple.
The Brooke heel... You need to wear a dress/ skirt with these because they need to be showcased! I didn't like the buckle at first, but now I feel it's totally integral to the shoe, yes?
When did I become a shoe girl?! Do you think Minkoff has done well, or should she churn out another new batch of MAB's?
PS- There is a haircalf wedge (2nd to last pair) that is pretty spectacular, too. Just sayin'!
