Cheap Thrills

I just read on The Cut today that William Rast will be the next brand name to create a Christmas capsule collection for Target, which is great... if you like William Rast. I wonder if there will be a lot of denim since the "premium' stuff they serve up is their specialty....? The brand is completely over-hyped, but I am sure there will be a decent military-style jacket that will be versatile and affordable and hopefully not covered in patches or rips....hopefully. At least most people won't expect this collection to be awesome like they did the Rodarte collection from last Christmas. All the ad coverage and commercials combined didn't match the mass amounts of rayon used for the products. Or maybe we just expect too much? Can you design and crank out a dress that fits well and is made of decent material for under $30? The William Rast collection isn't exhorbitantly priced normally, so maybe they can do it! Maybe we will get a Christmas miracle!

Favorite New Thing!

My favorite new item of the week is the Erica dress from J.Crew-- I love the new "vintage Poppy" print!
This could easily go to work or to a wedding and with heels just as well as the flat sandals pictured. I like the brown belt pictured to make it more casual- try layering a cardigan over the dress before belting when the weather cools down. As always with J.Crew items, the pattern is bright and cheeky without being garish and will be a classic, rather than trend, item in your wardrobe.

Glittering Anticipation....

I have never been much of a "sequin" person-- they usually remind me of aging film stars or stereotypically hideous Christmas sweaters. However, I decided to take the plunge, and in a big way:

Robert Rodriguez Sequined Cardigan

The green is beautifully dark and the sequins are more matte than in the picture-- and combined with the black grosgrain trim, I couldn't resist. My friend at work found it in my size at a store in Maryland, (staunch dedication on her part), and it is en route to my house right now...! I don't know if I will wear it buttoned and belted, un-belted and open, with dresses or with skinny jeans, but I can't wait to experiment!

Neiman Marcus' website has more photos of styling options-- very fun!

Is there a trend you are hesitant to try? Or one you are dying to wear out and about?
