All That Sparkles

After seeing the above photo of Blake Lively in a shrunken sequin jacket, I realize that my obsession with sparkle should not be limited to a winter cover-up. A lighter silver color or a cropped style would definitely take the look into spring!

Love the structured lapel of this one:

The boxy, cropped cut of this one would look cute over a flouncy dress:

This vintage number is heavily encrusted with sequins for a luxe feel:

How do you feel about sequins? Are they ho-hum or razzle-dazzle? With spring's new wardrobe freedom, what have you been wearing out on the town?

Sequined Boots... Again!

I fell out of love with these Sergio Rossi sequined over-the-knee boots not long after I posted about them (here), but I was just looking at Tommy Ton's site for Sergio Rossi and saw them styled for day... I am almost back in love with them again ;)

Check out the whole site here- I love Tommy Ton's photos!

Some of my favorites:

Bright shoes are all it takes to jazz up a simple outfit!

I am getting into the maxi skirt-for-winter-trend....

Opaque tights + blush heels! Cute photo, too.

Love 'em or hate 'em? And have you ever fallen out of love with a trend and then been "converted" back into a follower? ;)

My J.Crew Wishlist

Every time I get my J.Crew catalog in the mail, I am reminded of why I need to win the lottery... Fall is the worst: all the deliciously soft-yet-paper-thin cardis, the sequins and the precise way they layer pieces that looks effortless makes me "die" (to quote a tiny, infamous gal). I want pretty much everything they make, but my favorites range from super versatile to super decadent:
Chambray Tuxedo-Pleat Shirt
There is a reason I adopted the moniker of The Chambray Countess-- I love that the soft, casual fabric can be paired with anything from basic leggings to luxe fabrics (like the sequin skirt in the picture). This is a lighter chambray than I normally go for (I like it darker or with gray undertones) but the pleats and bow-tie made me smile.
Trouper Pant
I love a good skinny pant that can go from day-to-night. This would be great with flats and a striped boatneck tee, heels with a sequined top or even boots and drapey sweater.
Lace Tee
I love this top. It is a versatile day to night piece that could easily be worn with skinnies or tucked into a high-waisted skirt. I think it would also look really cute layered over a slim-fitting turtleneck or other long-sleeved tee.
Sequin Harem Pant
These pants are not remotely practical. Having said that, I still want them, but the $650 price tag will keep them safely out of reach. Remember the fun you had playing dress-up as a kid? I think putting these on for a holiday party would help you relive that excitement...or you could just look super fabulous at the grocery store, your choice ;)
Does anyone else love the color stories and quirky-yet-classically preppy combos that are oh so J.Crew? Is there another catalog that sends you into daydreams of closet overhauls!
Happy Monday!

What a Sparkling Personality!

When I saw these boots, my reaction was part disbelief and part admiration. Sequined over-the-knee boots?! That is just craziness and yet, why haven't I seen loads of these before? No need to pile on the jewelry with these disco balls on your feet :) What fun, glamorous, night-on-the-town-ready boots that definitely make a statement but keep you covered...Can sequins beget modesty? These sparkly numbers would certainly not be for the faint of heart, but on the right girl, these would be a guaranteed fantastic night out!

Available at a variety of retailers, but head to Zappos for lots of close-up shots.

Glittering Anticipation....

I have never been much of a "sequin" person-- they usually remind me of aging film stars or stereotypically hideous Christmas sweaters. However, I decided to take the plunge, and in a big way:

Robert Rodriguez Sequined Cardigan

The green is beautifully dark and the sequins are more matte than in the picture-- and combined with the black grosgrain trim, I couldn't resist. My friend at work found it in my size at a store in Maryland, (staunch dedication on her part), and it is en route to my house right now...! I don't know if I will wear it buttoned and belted, un-belted and open, with dresses or with skinny jeans, but I can't wait to experiment!

Neiman Marcus' website has more photos of styling options-- very fun!

Is there a trend you are hesitant to try? Or one you are dying to wear out and about?
