I was looking at the just-reduced items on Shopbop (yea sales!) and immediately fixated on this Thakoon dress:
It is perfect with a strappy, metallic heel, but what about a flat sandal for when you are on board your yacht in the Mediterranean? If it had other colors or stripes, I could totally see Margherita Missoni wearing this to some European gala (with a gold leaf headband worn across the forehead, natch). I feel a girl-crush post featuring that chica might be necessary soon....
Anyway, I just love the back of the dress, too:
Even though it is 30% off, it is still over $2,000, so I think I will have to let this one go ;) But I know when I need a dress for a yacht party, I will be upset I didn't snap this one up! Hehe
I hope everyone had a great long weekend!

Weekend Dreams
I have tomorrow off from work, so Mark and I had planned to spend Saturday meandering about downtown Detroit, but the gloomy forecast probably won't allow for it. In my head, I wanted to wear something like this...
I love the asymmetrical hem and the pattern of this light and breezy dress:
For now,I would add leggings and close-toe flats for warmth:
And then if the weather ever gets warmer, I would wear the dress with these:
We'll see if it is pouring tomorrow or if we can go exploring, (keeping my fingers crossed!), I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Book Report....Cactus Style?
I love reading and I love succulent cacti (not the greenest thumb over here but I love having plants and flowers in the house, so since succulents never die, so it's a match made in heaven!). But how do I feel about a literal combination of the two?
I think it's cute, though I wouldn't be able to read that book very well...hmmm...
Check out how the inventive artist created these literary planters here. Do you ever use an item for something other than its intended purpose and then love the results?

Geek Chic
The cable dude can't make it until tomorrow to install our internet and cable so I have been toting around my netbook everywhere I go, ( in case there is free Wi-Fi available), for the past two weeks! In this time, I have just been dumping my netbook in an over-sized tote and then running out the door... and every time I wish I had something to protect it. Leave it to me to wait until I won't need to carry it around to find a sleeve, but hey, better late than never!
There are some really ugly netbook cases and sleeves out there, but I did find some cute options:
Case Logic. The gray cableknit just looks so cozy!
Nuo Chloe Dao. I love envelope clutches for a night out, so why not an envelope netbook clutch?
Marc by Marc Jacobs. Chic-yet-durable. I have had the make-up bag version for eons and it has held up really well.
Kate Spade. I love the bright color and the cute keyboard graphic.
Nothing like something nerdy and cute to make me smile! Happy Friday, everyone!

Wishing....
I wish I was wearing this outfit today:
PLUS these:
But my outfit actually looks a little more like this:
Hehe, I am not in snow gear, but will someone please tell Mother Nature that April showers bring May flowers-- not May rainstorms?!
On the plus side, I haven't needed a pedicure lately bc no one can see my toes.....

Orange You Glad?
Rather than do another awkward, self-photographed outfit post, (yikes!), I decided to focus on decor and furniture shopping. Orange you glad about that? I am too funny ;) For couch shopping, it was really hard to find a couch that suited both our needs (he needs a big couch because he's a big guy and I wanted a couch that wasn't over-stuffed and depressing) but we came out okay:
The new brown chenille couch is cozy and delightful, but such a big, dark piece of furniture needs some brightness to balance it out. I naturally gravitate towards blue because it is a favorite color, and orange would be a great third color to add some pop to the room. I think I have already made it clear that I like abstract prints in bright colors (that post here), so I am sure you won't be surprised when you see what oranges have been inspiring me:
Any suggestions for what to do with the giant brown couch? What is inspiring you this week?
Happy Monday!
Sorry for the bad lighting, but we don't have any lamps yet!
Also, the pillows came with the couch.....they will be changed! ;)

Furniture Shopping
This was post was WAY easier to do in my head: "Snap a picture or two on camera, upload at coffee shop, go furniture shopping"........... In reality, taking pictures of yourself is quite hard. I have to give major kudos to Chloe of The Chloe Conspiracy for taking her own pictures and looking so cute every time!
Maybe it will be easier to take the pictures when I have furniture to set the camera on? Which is the point of my day off today-- furniture hunting! Where, oh, where do you find area rugs and a comfy-yet-stylish couch in a place that is brand new? Hopefully I will find out today!
Simple outfit for Furniture-Hunting:
Doki Geki jacket, ON striped shirt, Anlo Jeans, Toms shoes
I tried a red lip today and am on the fence about it... a little too intense for day with the pale skin... oh, and trust me, this was the best picture of the batch before I gave up!
See what I mean? No one to tell you that you can't see your shoes in the pictures, that your hair looks flat or that you look like you are sleepy!
Have a great Weds everyone!

Happy Mothers' Day!!!
Hi everyone! Sorry for the absence, but until we get internet at the house, I am stuck checking emails on my phone. We FINALLY moved into the house (after living in a hotel for a week while our stuff was being shipped) and I excited to start unpacking!!! No pictures of the inside yet, but don't worry, all you are missing is a bunch of cardboard boxes. (When I say a bunch, I mean A BUNCH. The movers said that they usually move furniture, but that our move was mostly boxes...73 boxes to be exact...and most of them were my clothes and shoes and accessories!!!)
Anyway, here is a quick shot of the house:
This lone tulip sprung up seemingly overnight near our front door...

This Week's Inspiration
Moving has gone smoothly... well, we got here anyway! We have been living in a hotel waiting for the movers to arrive with our stuff and it's gray and raining (it's May?!?!?!). A lot. BUT, I have seen our house and love it! More pictures of that later. For now, this week's inspiration:
It is a Jackson Pollack? Nope. Before I left AZ, I snapped this picture on my phone of tar splatters on a freeway exit on the 101-South. I love the pattern and texture and the gradation of intensity of the pigment. It goes to show that art is everywhere (add more cliches here, but you get the idea).
What is inspiring you this week?
