Getting "the skinny" on trend pants.......

Admittedly, I am a late adopter of the skinny cargo pant trend. A pant that adds bulk to my hips and tapers to a skinny leg that will no doubt be too short for my excessive inseam needs? No thank you! But I started reading reviews that skinny cargos are flattering, comfortable, go from day-to-night easily and increase your IQ (well, not that part) and my firm stance began to waver. The icing on the cake occurred when my stylish friend (read her great blog here) walked into my house with her olive JBrand "Houlihan" pants paired with a black, drapey top, mixed chain necklace and flat sandals. The proverbial light bulb went on and now I am on the hunt for my own pair of fantastic-ness. Here are three options:

JBrand "Houlihan" cargo skinny jeans at shopbop.com, $238
This pant is quickly becoming the hallmark of the trend, which is not hard to believe when you factor in the flattering fit and comfortable design and brand reputation. Rather than the traditional green, I gravitate towards darker washes and grey. Be sure to check out nordstrom.com for brand new colors!

7 For All Mankind "Skinny Cargo," $169
It would definitely be worth it to try the trend from a company that makes incredibly comfortable denim. The simple design is a plus for those hardware-minimalists who tend to shy away from over-exposed trendiness.

Express "Cargo Skinny Pant," $59.90
These are a simple take on the trend and a great price for the budget-conscious or someone who only spends mad dough on the classics. Available in a range of colors, this pant seems like a great choice, but after reading the reviews (most of which are quite positive), I will leave you with a warning: "the fit and style are so unmistakeably express!"......Meaning, I would probably try these bad boys on before purchasing...

Any new trends you love or love to hate? What are you wearing with your skinny cargo pants?

Favorite New Item!

It is still too warm to even be thinking about leather jackets, but when I came across this one, I started dreaming of wintery chapped lips and icicle toes with earnest:
Vince Leather Wrap Jacket, $1,085
This jacket combines thin, soft leather with my love of draped knits. I love a good moto-ispired leather jacket, but that look is everywhere while this is new and fresh. Plus, the tie-belt is super figure-flattering, so keeping warm doesn't necessitate a lot of bulk! This is definitely on my winter wishlist!

Teeee-Rific!!!

Get it? Haha, I am a nerd. Anyway, I have a problem: I love t-shirts. Too much. Seriously. I am always looking for the newest style and brand that are ridiculously soft and that drape perfectly. It would seem simple, but the art of the t-shirt is very specific. You don't want to look like you are "trying to hard" with a skintight number, but you don't want to wear a shirt so oversized that you look sloppy. A shirt that is cut well photographs well and since a picture is worth 1000 words, that means a great shirt is worth at least 500 words...but I will spare you too many more and just post pictures of my two new favorite brands:
Soft Joie Eaton top, $74
Soft Joie is great! I love Joie already for the great silk tunics in vibrant colors and the new Soft line is just what the name implies.
Lanston Muscle Pocket Tee, $48
I have recently been spotting Lanston in more and more venues and for good reason- the softness of their fabric is beyond description and I love the thin, yet not-too-sheer quality as well. The next time you see this brand on a shopping adventure- touch it. I dare you.
Anything your closet is jammed-full of? Have a well-knitted love story of your own, you old softy? ;)

Three is the Magic Number

There are many reasons to love Fresh and Easy groceries stores, but there are three reasons I love that place most of all (in no particular order):

1. Where else can you buy all natural fruit leather that doesn't taste like Wixy Stix?
2. The gazpacho. Trust me- so great! I have been craving something with pow-factor ever since a trip to Spain (3 years ago!) and unsuccessfully tried places that are supposed to have authentic Spanish fare (do not try Pepin in Scottsdale, it is cold Campbell's tomato). However, this gazpacho-tasticness is tangy and spicy and, not surprisingly-- fresh and (packed in a resealable container) easy!
3. Their new line of body products! I have been looking for products that are mineral oil and paraben free for a while now and could only find products that smelled putrid and/or were super pricey. And then I walk into Fresh and Easy today to discover their new line of lotions, hair products, body scrubs, etc- and that there is a "buy 2, get 20% off" deal this week! Product reviews to follow!

What "little things" do you enjoy? Have a great day thinking about them!

Sad times...

Remember the Robert Rodriguez sequinned cardigan (mentioned here) that I ordered and was super pumped about? It came in the mail, but it is WAY too big. Sequins are tricky to pull-off without looking too chinzy and a giant, cape-like swath of them just looks silly. Better luck next time!

Get Excited!

I just read on The Cut that L'Wren Scott and Lancome are collaborating on a make-up collection for this holiday season! I am a huge fan of her sleek silhouettes and her close attention to the tailoring details that can transform a dress from regular to show-stopping. Below is a look typical of her collections from last year's spring RTW line:

Imagine this as make-up....and get excited!
